This two-model display is of the McLaren Honda MP4/5B. Ayrton Senna became the 1990 F1 World Champion with this car, the second time he had won the trophy. In 1990 McLaren Honda also won their third consecutive Constructors' Championship.
The closed model complete with bodywork is the version from the Monaco Grand Prix. This is next to the open version which is from the Belgian Grand Prix. Senna won both races. By having a two-model display of one open and one closed model, it's possible to view the uninterrupted lines and shape of the car, whilst at the same time viewing what lies beneath the bodywork.
Both models were built from kits by Model Factory Hiro modified with the addition of some new, scratch-built parts in brass and aluminium. The majority of these new parts were used in the version without the bodywork.

These models, which were on display at Retromobile 2019, were finished in January of that year and have now been sold and are no longer available.
